There are two galleries inside the Oakdale Cowboy Museum; the Rodeo Gallery and the Ranching Gallery.

The Rodeo Gallery contains an extensive collection of memorabilia from our local rodeo champion cowboys, including an explanation of the rodeo events.  Trophy saddles, buckles, photographs, and chaps fill every corner of this room.  As a “hands on” Museum, we encourage you to touch the fine craftsmanship of the many tooled leather saddles, feel the texture of a bronc rein and listen to the bell attached to a bull rope.  Take your time to look at the photographs and read the stories.  All Around Cowboys, World Champion Cowboys; it’s all here.  You’ll quickly learn how Oakdale earned the slogan of “The Cowboy Capital of the World.”

The Ranching Gallery is located in the waiting room of the Old Southern Pacific Railroad Station and the original benches are still intact. So, c’mon in and sit a spell. Pick up one of the many branding irons that are on display, take a look at the barbwire collection, or let the kids dress up in cowboy clothes for a photo op on our old saddle.

This room is also used to host exhibits so you will see the collection changed on occasion.
